Elspeth Leadbetter is a writer of novels and short stories. A former political researcher and journalist, she also has her own copywriting company.

Before I was a writer, I was a reader. Books have always been a huge part of my life.

I write literary and reading group fiction. My novel in progress, The Horse Pond was longlisted by the Bath Novel Award in 2024 (made the longlist of 21 out of 2,452 manuscripts), shortlisted by the Caledonian Novel Award in 2022 and was also longlisted in the CRAFT Literary First Chapters Award in the US. Other works have been recognised by the Bridport Prize, published in MsLexia and shortlisted in the inaugural Owned Voices Award in 2021.
